House and Facilities
Purpose designed and built as a spacious luxury guest house, Broad Bay House is based on a traditional island design, equipped and decorated to a high quality contemporary style.
Soft colours, natural woods, outstanding local original artwork and sympathetic furnishing provide a relaxing environment.
A highlight of the house is the large dining/lounge area, which has a vaulted ceiling and windows on three sides all providing lovely views of the coast, while a solid fuel stove makes life cosy when the weather demands.
We aim to provide every facility needed by both leisure and business travellers, including a guest laundry, PC and printer with internet access, photocopier, wireless broadband, guest telephone with complimentary local calls - all included in the room rate. We have space to safely store your sporting equipment such as surf boards and bicycles.
If you have a particularly valuable car or motorbike, you are welcome to park it in our garage - please request this at the time of booking.
If you need anything else, please ask us!
We can organise collection from the airport or Stornoway ferry terminal on your arrival on the island, and possibly also collection from other ferry terminals. Please request this at the time of booking.
We provide comprehensive, up to date local information to help you make the most of your stay and are happy to make recommendations regarding travel options and itineraries.
We also have an arrangement with some excellent local guides who can be booked to provide a range of tours to help you make the most of your stay. Even if you have a car, we recommend that you spend one day on a tour with a local guide who will help you gain a superb insight into the local landscape and culture. Please ask for details
For the less mobile visitor we have a large, level, disabled parking space near the house and access is via a level decking bridge. All our guest accommodation and facilities are on one level. Room 1 has been designed with you in mind, being Category 1 accessible – in other words it meets Scotland’s requirements for unassisted wheelchair access. If you have additional requirements then please call us to discuss.
We seek to be as environmentally friendly as possible and we are working towards a Green Tourism Gold award. The house was built using energy efficient construction materials and we recycle everything we possibly can. We use energy efficient lighting where practical.
For guests staying more than 1 night, we offer fresh towels daily only on request and bed linen will be changed every five days unless you request a more frequent change.
